It’s Draft Day!

The QMJHL does the Entry Draft like no other CHL league. The Q puts on a big show just like the NHL does and makes it extremely special vs telephone drafts that take place in the other leagues. Congratulations to everyone attending and or selected!

Today is draft day in the Q and whether you get picked at 1st or 400th, it doesn’t matter. What does matter is how well the players perform on the ice at the team camps. But here’s a throw back to the 2017 QMJHL Draft in Saint John NB. The first round selected players.

For a photographer covering the draft, it certainly can be challenging (READ: FUN!). In Saint John & Charlottetown I covered the draft and had to capture photos of the players being selected. As well, I had 2 amazing reporters texting me or coming up to me saying get a photo of this or that happening right now because that person is related to such and such, oh and the person on the other side is also a whose who!

So for a photographer, the draft is intense and fun as heck! Additionally, you get to see all the teams and their staff that you see on a regular basis throughout the season. Except, all of em in 1 spot!
