Wet’suwet’en Protests at Confed Bridge
On February 16, 2020 by jmwebAt 230am on Sunday morning, I got up and shortly thereafter departed Charlottetown for the Halifax Region.
I was tipped off as to a protest that was supposed to happen in the Halifax area and my Globe and Mail editors wanted me there. As we got further away from the Confederation Bridge, doubt about the Halifax protest started to creep in. Was it gonna happen?
The event was supposed to happen in the early AM hours. I spoke to the organizer for merely seconds and then we got disconnected. No answer when I called back…. I started to have doubts if the Halifax protest was going to go ahead.
Knowing about another possible demonstration at the Confederation Bridge, we set our sights back on our home province.
They were demonstrating in support of the Wet’suwet’en in British Columbia. We arrived shortly before the demonstration began and watched it all unfold.
These are the pictures.
