Canada’s Deadliest Shooting
On April 23, 2020 by jmwebMy next stop was at Portapique Beach Road. When I first had arrived, the two RCMP vehicles were located next to the street sign. Immediately I thought this is not good. Shortly thereafter a firetruck came out along and 2 RCMP vehicles.
I waited a few minutes as other media outlets started to arrive. I then proceeded to check out the Bay Shore Road which might offer a glimpse into this small community from another angle. Sure enough, it did. I captured numerous photos however the only thing I could see was numerous houses alongside a road and a small river in between us with some swampland. More on this later.
I went back to the Portapique Beach Road where all the Nova Scotia media outlets were now parked alongside the opposite side of the road. There was only one I did not identify, Steve McKinley of the Toronto Star.
From this point on, it was a hurry up and wait game. So I was going to proceed elsewhere. Before I could, all a sudden an individual appeared. Someone I didn’t know and not exactly close to the media. It was Dave Brown who lives in Debert, Nova Scotia. He was setting up a memorial. He had heard that a local lady had past away and spoke so highly of her.
I decided to stick around for a few more minutes. All of a sudden word has come in that an RCMP Member had sadly passed away. I noticed a change in the atmosphere with the RCMP officers.
After a few quick images of the RCMP Members, it was time to move on.
