A Vigil for the 215 Children Discovered

There were some incredible dancers that danced around the 215 pairs of shoes.

One of the last powerful moments was watching Elder Junior Peter Paul remove the sneakers from around the John A MacDonald statue and place them around his own neck.

This pretty much wrapped up the ceremony where I went back to my office and filled. Sure enough within minutes, the images were being displayed on news outlets all over Canada.

Later that evening, on the new news of the 215 bodies being discovered and after previously voting to leave the statue in place, the City of Charlottetown councillors voted to remove the statue.
