PEI Housing Crisis: Chris & Melinda Boyles
On September 16, 2021 by jmwebPrince Edward Island has been a desirable spot for people to immigrate to. Whether they are coming from Toronto or internationally, the Island has had a flood of newcomers. Between 2019 and 2020, the population had grown 1.5%. When the HST was introduced in 2013, I recall contractors complaining about the lack of work. Also add in the popularity of AirBNB’s and you have a set of issues that have compounded to lack of housing.
Introducing Chris & Melinda Boyles. A family who is sadly living in an RV as they have struggled to find a place to live. But it is not just impacting Chris & Melinda. It is also impacting their 5 children who are also living with them in an RV at Cavendish KOA.
You can read more about their struggle on the Globe & Mail website which I captured the following imagery for.
