Discovering Secret World War II Plane Crash
On November 21, 2021 by jmwebWe Arrived At the World War II Wreckage
We had finally arrived, eaten alive by bugs and tired by the situation, but we had made it. I snapped a couple of quick pics and we bailed. Hurrying away to get away from the bugs which had sworn around us.
Fast forward to November. I was back in Mill River for the Island Shine Festival, a great comedy festival over three days at Mill River Resort. On Saturday, I went out to Alaska and revisited the site. Knowing there would be no bugs, I knew it would be a great chance to explore more of the area and take more detailed images.
The Third Hike
You’d think I’d be able to find the crash site quickly but that is wrong. Having hiked in three times now, I’ve discovered some tips and tricks to get there. But when you get into within an acre of the wreckage, the trees become denser. None the less, this hike was quicker. I did discover a new faster way to get in. But I haven’t sped up my time of finding the wreckage within that acre yet.
