Montreal Canadiens vs Ottawa Senators in Gander, Newfoundland
On October 18, 2022 by jmwebThe game would be pre-cluded by a gorgeous sunset happening as people await their turn to enter into the rink.
Inside, the players were getting ready and took to the ice.
The players warmed up as the fans got into their seats. From here it was onto the game. Photographing hockey is probably one of the toughest assignments you can get. It’s indoors, involves low lighting conditions and fast action requiring great auto-focusing. These three items make it the toughest. The bigger the arena, the better the lighting conditions however the smaller the arena and the worse the lighting conditions it seems.
None the less, you still need to get the shot.
In between periods, I have 20 minutes to file my photos but in the case of the exhibition game, was 16 or 18. Onto the second period.
The first and second period are usually the most important when being on the East Coast as the images to go with the stories will usually be selected by the second period. Being in Newfoundland, gave me some extra time because of the time zone difference vs being in Edmonton and being behind the 8-ball in terms of timings.
And just like that, the game was over. From here, it was off to Bouchtouche, New Brunswick. As I was in Newfoundland for the previous 3-4 weeks, I would have to drive. So upon the completion of the game, I immediately headed towards the ferry.
