6. Eve Gascon plays in QMJHL
I was already in Quebec capturing landscape images. I had 2x Sony A7 r IV’s with me, which are 10fps @ 61mp. In the modern day, not the best cameras I had to cover sports. But I knew they’d work fine as the camera technology has advanced great in the past numerous years.
The big thing, Eve Gascon was the first female player to play in the QMJHL in 20 years. This was a big deal and I was excited to be involved in covering it.

5. Driving Across Canada (and back)
When you have an assignment 5,000km away and you are a photojournalist, you fly. But when you are a photojournalist AND a landscape photographer, you drive. It gives you the ability to capture images on the way. As well, we were going through a lot of turmoil in the airports with luggage going missing. Ending up in Edmonton with no gear would be pointless.
4. Montreal Canadiens vs Ottawa Senators
As a young boy, I was a big Patrick Roy/Montreal Canadiens fan. I’ve had many opportunities to meet the hockey legend as photographing games he coaches. But covering the NHL as it played it’s pre-season game in both Gander, Newfoundland and Bouctouche, New Brunswick was fun. Not only that but kicking the Montreal Canadiens players who took over my work seat was kind of fun (sorry) too.
