On January 3, 2023 by jmwebAfter the previous 2023 World Juniors game, people were saying that Team Canada vs Team Slovakia was going to be a blowout as well. That turned out to be anything but true.
The first period had Team Slovakia coming out strong. They kept the Canadians a bay.
After a 20-minute rest for the players, the question was, will Team Canada come out strong or have a real uphill battle.

After three periods of play, everyone was on the edge of their seats. People were jumping up more often. In Edmonton, the fans would jump out of their seats and we’d still be able to capture images as the arena is built to include photo positions. The Halifax’s Scotiabank Centre is not built with photo position friendly. So we were contending with fans jumping up in front of us and TSN right above our heads not giving us much room to move.
It was a dramatic ending. Connor Bedard (Team Canada, #16) stayed on the ice most of the overtime.
And Connor Bedard (Team Canada, #16) scored in overtime to help push Team Canada onto the next round of the playoffs.
