Cover Photo for Globe & Mail
On October 19, 2020 by jmwebFor the second time in 80 days, I’ve gotten a cover photo on the Globe & Mail! On Saturday, I was assigned to cover the Lobster Fishing Dispute for Reuters in Southern Nova Scotia after a building went up in flames in West Pubnico.
On Sunday, I reverted back to taking landscapes until I observed a coast guard vessel which is commonly used for carrying RCMP who can dispatch from a Zodiac onboard. I followed it North..More on this later…
Sunday night, about an hour before Sunset I got a phone call from one of the lovely photo editors at the Globe & Mail asking about a cover photo for Mondays paper. She asked if I could snap one of West Pubnico. Being an hour away and only an hour of sun left, I booted er down to West Pubnico hoping someone would be down there. As I arrived, sure enough there was a bunch of vehicles and one individual walking around. I took this opportunity to snap some pictures for the cover.
Pretty much after I took this photo, an individual came up to me rather unhappy about the media attention and how he felt it was one-sided. We had a nice long conversation about the situation as I proceeded to file the photos I had taken. Below is a shot on my laptop infront of the West Pubnico Lobster Pound that had burnt down.
