Ann Thurlow’s New Cookbook
On March 16, 2023 by jmwebDuring the height of the pandemic, Islander Ann Thrulow created her own cookbook on cabbage called, “My PEI Cabbage Cookbook”. Local Island restaurants, which are usually busy dishing out coleslaw especially with fish & chips, didn’t have the demand for the popular addon so she took action to give the cabbage industry a boost.
In August, Sam Sifton of the New York Times wrote about the cookbook in his popular food newsletter and in early March, The Globe & Mail also wrote about the “colonel of the cabbage army”. I was tasked in creating some imagery of Ann for a piece that very talented Atlantic Canada G&M reporter Lindsay Jones was working on.
You can pickup Ann’s cookbook at the Bookmark in downtown Charlottetown or on the Vessey Seed’s website. I am told by mutual friends it is very well done. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to get my hands on one, yet, as it’s sold out (they are reprinting tho!).
