19 Photo Moments of 2019
On December 30, 2019 by jmweb11. You’ll die of old age…we will die of climate change
Climate protests were held around the world and that included Charlottetown. While I am no scientist, doing things that are better for the planet seems like a wise choice to preserve life.
12. New Brunswick Flooding
The Saint John River flooded again in May 2019 and it was terrible to see the people along the river suffer. This individual removed his shoes to walk thru a newly formed stream where a road is suppose to be.
13. PEI Election
The Prince Edward Island election had media from all over coming to cover it. It was highly anticipated with a lot of people expecting a Green Party win after the Liberals had won the previous elections. Islanders came out to vote and they decided not on the Green’s but on the Progressive Conservative’s instead in April of 2019. I had the pleasure of capturing this for Macleans Magazine.
In the end, the Spirit of Collaboration was selected as the 2019 News Story of the year by The Charlottetown Guardian.
14. March 22nd.
March 22nd is my birthday however for my 2019th birthday it was also a QMJHL playoff contest between the Halifax Moosehead’s & Quebec Rempart’s with a following game being held on March 23rd. I was sent to Halifax to cover the game for Journal de Quebec. Patrick Roy was someone I idolized growing up, as I am sure many hockey fans did. So considering we were in the same building for my birthday, I thought I better get a selfie.
15. CFL: Touchdown Atlantic
The CFL held their 6th version of Touchdown Atlantic in Moncton, New Brunswick where the Montreal Alouettes took on the Toronto Argonauts. A group of investors are attempting to bring a CFL Team to Halifax which has the community divided over how much public funding should go into a facility to host the team.
16. ECMA’s
The East Coast Music Awards were held in May, 2019 which you can see was a busy month. I had the opportunity to cover numerous events at BG’s as well as the Awards Gala for The Canadian Press.
17. Covered Bridges of New Brunswick
This will be my newest book that I am working on. It should come up mid-2020. I am very close to having it done, I need 1 or 2 more covered bridges which are more difficult to get to in the winter.
That said, going down some of the old dirt roads and discovering new places certainly has been fun during my adventures thru New Brunswick.
18. Amherst
We had a typical winter in the Maritimes without much going to far off course. I got to explore more of Western Nova Scotia including a trip North of Amherst. I really wanted to use this shot as my cover photo for my 2020 Nova Scotia calendar but because it was a winter shot, I didn’t.
19. 2020 Calendars
Why do I have a picture of a fork lift? Well, he just started unloading my calendars from the 18 wheeler behind him. Every year, super early, I get up and go to Day & Ross to transport the calendars from them to my office. They always come in on pallets and this year was no exception as I had added a lot of New Brunswick calendars to the mix.
p.s. there are still a few left on Amazon!
If you’ve gotten this far, thanks for reading my list. Be sure to leave a comment down below as to what your favourite memories of 2019 were. I love reading them.

Hi John…I enjoyed reading your top 19. Beautiful shots and beautiful stories. It reminds me of the year that I had as well….running in two elections until July of 2019 kept me quite busy. I think in one of your pictures you indicated election was in May ….it actually was April 15. You move around for sure….good for sure and it looks like you enjoy what you do!
