Shawinigan Wins QMJHL’s Presidents Cup
On June 13, 2022 by jmwebStarting in Period 1, you could feel the energy. The crowd was excited for this to begin. They had waited about 20 years for this.
The first period was over and off to the media section I went. I was sharing my seat with an individual from Radio-Canada. He would utilize the seat during the period and I would utilize it during the intermission. Is this the norm? No not always, but it is doing what is required to get the job done. When covering higher level events, its all about working together and ensuring we all got our work done. It’s not a competition as most would think. We all have a job to do and ensuring we all do it is important.
Out of all the events I’ve covered, there has only been once or twice where it seemed someone was trying to compete with me by preventing me to get or do something which is a rarity. During the last federal election, there were times when there was just one spot for a photographer. While covering the election, there were usually three photographers. Sharing and ensuring we got what we needed was the norm, not the exception.
The second period came in with a bang as the Conehead did his magic in getting the crowd pumped up.
The third period was different. I tried to wrap up my captioning/editing early to claim a spot between the two benches. Sadly I wasn’t the first one there, someone else had arrived prior to me. So I moved on to the next spot. As time went on, the Shawinigan Cataractes tied things up.
With the third period ending in a tie of 3-3, it was time for overtime.
